Jay Harlow
Food Writer, Cooking Teacher I have spent more than two decades cooking seafood, writing about seafood, and teaching seafood cookery. I am author or co-author of twelve cookbooks, including West Coast Seafood, The Microbrew Lover's Cookbook, The California Seafood Cookbook, Shrimp, The Grilling Book, and Beer Cuisine. For the last fifteen years, I have been sharing my love of seafood with San Francisco Bay Area newspaper readers and with a national audience through magazines and food websites. In 2004, I began publishing The Seafood Monitor, an online newsletter for food professionals and anyone interested in issues of seafood supply, safety, and sustainability. A former restaurant cook and chef in San Francisco and Berkeley, I have taught demonstration and participation cooking classes across the country since the mid-1980s, helping home cooks and aspiring professionals make sense of the sometimes bewildering variety of fish and shellfish. home | bio | publications | classes | links | get in touch |
